One of CDA’s first projects involved working with the owner of this car dealership to realize an addition that is clearly modern but compliments the existing traditional building.

The south end wall of the addition is clad in a stone veneer similar to the main building’s stone, but the wall bridging the new with the existing stone is clad in corrugated polycarbonate panels. The massing of the addition is decidedly minimal in an attempt to quietly defer to the existing building but also expresses the forward looking vision of the dealership. Natural day lighting, thermal performance of the building envelope, and a mechanical system that is run by reused motor oil are all examples of sustainable approaches implemented in the design of the project.
