HARRISBURG CITY HALL RENOVATIONS
CDA is designing upgrades to the nearly 40 year old brutalist building that houses the offices for The City of Harrisburg, PA including the City Council Chambers and numerous elected officials. The new design for the building will work to erase a current perception of fortification, creating a more open and welcoming civic space, the intent being to open spaces up allowing staff to collaborate, attract new young staff, and provide an enhanced experience in service to the city’s citizens.
CDA is skilled at leveraging the positives of existing buildings, redesigning them to meet current building codes, program needs, & 21st century demands. We are developing concepts that create a more inviting entrance to the building, open up the Council Chambers and entrances to the numerous departments to the public, and create office spaces that staff enjoying working in. Notably, we are also exploring memorable ways to memorialize the center’s namesake and civil rights leader, the Reverend Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

Chris and his team are cognizant of budgetary limitations, and never push you beyond your comfort level. However, they still maintain a high degree of sophistication and commitment to getting the appropriate design and push you on what your goals really are. At the end of the design phase, CDA’s design was what was in my mind’s eye all along. The process enabled me to verbalize my wants and CDA was able to bring it to life.
